I became Seniors’ Captain for 2014 in January, having participated in the Section’s activities since 2003.
Over that time, I have seen the Section improve year on year, largely due to the calibre and efforts of my predecessors and a healthy balance between competitive and social golf.
My objectives for 2014 include building on the existing mix of competitive and social golf through extending the season and increasing the variety of formats, as well as the number of shotgun starts.
In 2014, we will be playing internal competitions almost every Monday and midweek competitions when the course is not available on a Monday. Between mid-March and early October, we currently have 39 friendly matches against other clubs, most of which are played on a Tuesday or Thursday. In addition, the Section plays competitive golf in the Knighton Heath Knockout Trophy and Carpet Barn competitions.
The Section has no formal membership requirements – any member aged 55 years or over is eligible to participate in Seniors’ golf and social activities
Details of all Seniors’ activities appear both on this website and on the Seniors’ Notice Board, which is next to the internal door into the men’s changing room. Information about new or changed activities is passed to members via frequent emails.
